I definitely fell off the nutty tree

March 22, 2009

I swear… lately I’ve either been too busy or too sick to even think about blogging…  what a winter… I wish that I could say I’ve enjoyed it but seriously… Friday I was more than thrilled to welcome Spring into our neck of the woods.. too bad it was a mere 30 degrees, and I was sick with a bout of Laryngitis!  Oh the fun that has been…

I blame the gym daycare work I’ve been doing, because my kids aren’ t bringing this stuff home from school…  The cold struck on Tuesday… or was it Wednesday? hmmm at any rate.. I felt my voice going by mid afternoon Thursday and woke up Friday with nothing more than a pathetic whisper…  it was hilarious actually because my kids were forced (oh the torture) to listen to me, and it was rather funny because they’d answer me in whispers as well… what a quiet house we had!

The last few weeks have been nutty busy for us… (big shocker huh)… nothing terribly new and different for this group of people!!  The Tuesday prior to St. Paddy’s I baked 32 loaves of soda bread with the help of 2 other mom’s for our school’s St. Paddy’s party playground fundraiser… only to find out upon my return from a weekend away that the ovens must have been playing a joke on us… they looked and smelled and ‘sounded’ done… but low and  behold.. upon thawing and reheating… they were uncooked in the middle… GAH!  I was so mad… so much work and food down the tubes…  I knew I should have just made them progressively over time at home in an oven  I know and trust…  I also pulled together two baskets (one from the First Grade and one from our camp) for the Chinese Auction that was held during the St. Paddy’s party.. I hear that they both were very popular… First Grade picked an Italian theme.. the room mom’s got together and visited a local Italian bakery/deli and put together a basket worth $150 of yummy Italian goods and gift certificates… and our camp basket was a $100 basket full of scratch tickets…  Sadly we couldn’t attend the party due to a previously planned trip to Boston, which I was NOT going to cancel no matter what…

The Friday prior to St. Paddy’s. my kids had off from school for a teacher workday.. and the hubster had a weekend long track meet to officiate in Boston, so off we went… piled all into the van for a road trip northward to my old stomping grounds…

We spent much all day Friday doing ‘historic’ Boston stuff… we walked almost the complete Freedom Trail (minus the Bunker Hill bit)…  toured Paul Revere’s house, went to Cops Hill Cemetery, and toured the USS Constitution as well as the USS Constitution Museum.  We had a lot of fun but were thoroughly frozen and exhausted by the end…

I left hubster at his meet, and then headed northward to the home of our good friends Amanda and her hubby and poppy… 🙂 We had so much fun visiting with them!  Our kidlets all got along great, and Amanda and I got loads of chatting and knitting time in… I even finished a pair of socks I’d been knitting…  We took our littles to the SEE museum in Manchester NH on Saturday and then had a second evening of chatter and knitting… Sunday we went to the Science Museum together and then parted ways… it was so hard to say goodbye…  especially for little Poppy who enjoyed having siblings for the weekend!

We finished out our Sunday with my dad and his 3 children at the Museum of Science, and then a quickie tour through the New England Aquarium…  The big guy and I drove till we dropped in our driveway at 11pm on Sunday evening…  so is it any wonder I ended up picking up a cold???  nope…

This week I tried to lay low as much as possible…  I knit and relaxed as much as I could… I even finished a baby set I”m sending to my cousin and his fiance for their upcoming son’s birth…  I love how it turned out…

This week should also be a quiet one…  and lets just hope I wake up with my voice back to normal.. Church sure was hard without being able to sing this morning……

It’s always good to get an update from you. I love that baby set. Glad your voice has returned, blogging voice and real voice. LOL

What a fun trip. And hanging out with Amanda…double fun. I keep getting sick from work too. I’m starting to use disinfectant spray on everything there. It’s the other people who come to work sick because they can’t afford not to have a paycheck. And in your case…the people who want to work out even if their kids should be home.

We tried some kool-aid dyeing here. I should have a post up about it this week.

Whew! I’m tired just reading about it. Oh no… wait… I was tired BEFORE I started reading… I’m glad you had so much fun and love all the photos!

I’m reading this on Monday morning, and I’m hoping that your week and next weekend are relatively event-free so you can get caught up on some rest. I know you’ve been going non-stop.

    Miss you!

That was one whirlwind trip through Boston. I think you hit everything but a Duck Tour in two days! I do love this place though! Glad you and the kids had much fun!

Feel better!!! No more getting sick!
