Cass? Chan?? you out there???
So.. you two… I was thinking of you both yesterday… here’s why…
Cass:
In North Carolina we’d attend the seemingly unusual festivals weekend after weekend in the spring and in the fall… the Summer months were just too hot, though we did typically venture out for the ridiculously hot Fourth of July festivities in the booming metropolis that is Apex, NC… and Cass recently posted about a festival in her town that she categorized as somewhat Redneck…
Yesterday we attended
Yes… that’s right… a Kielbasa Festival!
The big guy’s family is Polish, and we’ve eaten ‘Basa’ and Pierogies for as long as we’ve been together (for me anyway)… though as a child I do remember my parents fixing a Kielbasa dish that we all enjoyed…
So… for the nearly Vegetarian me… it was an interesting event to walk through Plymouth seeing the various butcher’s competing for the ‘best in show’ for Kielbasa. (I must note that our new home ‘city’ is very polish and therefore we can buy homemade Pierogies at local shops… and I won’t ever eat Mrs. T’s again… AAAAmazing pierogies here I tell ya!)
here’s a selection of yesterday’s fun…
Hmmmm I had some pierogie, and a fresh squeezed lemonade… and admit to a bite of basa from the kids ‘basa on a stick’ that we bought from one of the vendors.
And Chan… you got me thinking the other day during our chat-fest…
I do think my sock-issue is related to patterns because I whipped through this one lickety split.. I cast on around 10 am and knit periodically through the day (including the drive to the basa festival)… and finished last night around 10pm.. I’ll cast on sock 2 tonight… today has been a heavy cleaning house day… I used the pattern you print for me with your software but changed the toe, and knit it longer than the ‘ankle’ length you’d made for me.. if I’d knit it any longer then the opening would have been too small.. but it fits snug, and is soft and I love it… plus.. it’s the watermelon Claudia yarn you gifted me! 🙂 I actually will have enough yarn left from it to make the littlest girl a pair too! 🙂
I’m a big Claudia fan, and I love your socks. They’re very similar to my latest pair, and they zip along on the needles. I’m using Claudia’s Buckeye. Gorgeous.
Thank you for entering my contest–love your blog!
Keilbasa & Pierogies? Oh boy, I would be in heaven too. That sounds so good.
That sock is beautiful! I’m loving using gifted by Chan Claudia’s handpaints. Can’t wait to see your second sock – and by the way – you knit fast! g
OMG – Kielbasa fest??!! I would SO be there! Sounds like total fun!!!!!!!!!!!
Yum now Iam hungry:)The socks are so kewl!!Hugs Darcy
I am jealous of your proximity to good pierogies. My family makes them once a year (because it takes all day)…and we them all within 2 weeks 🙂 And homemade kielbasa is not even comparable to the stuff the y sell in the stores.
Nothing says lovin’ in a town more than a sausage-fest… 😆
I’ve just finished writing about some more tasty bites, most are quick-n-easy and can be done in 15 minutes. Please check it out, and comment on what you think. Thanks, I appreciate it.

I didn’t know hubby is polish, I am polish. Before the great, great grandparents came through the harbor (there might be one more great there, I would have to check the tree) our last name was Mikulski and it was shortened through the harbor to Mikul. The sock looks great.
The sock looks great! Don’t you love knitting with Claudia’s!?
What a riot! If my husband gets wind of this…I know where we’ll be next August!! (He is also Polish)
Mmmmmm Pierogi’s!
Nice sock. There’s definitely something to be said for a nice plain sock pattern!
Looks like you had fun!
MMM Pirogies… Mrs T is all I can have until I get to PA to visit you
The men here love Kielbasa you know I never even heard of that in CA.
