I need a real post…

January 16, 2008

Lately all I’ve had time to post is the ‘lists’ and ‘tags’ I’ve had.. but I realized… wow.. the cocoa swap is taking over my posting time ๐Ÿ˜‰ I am currently using Shrook to read my fellow bloggers sites… and have really found that I enjoy Shrook, it’s got a great user interface for us Mac users… sadly though a few of my favorite blogs don’t have feeds, or Shrook doesn’t recognize them, so I have a small list of ‘bookmarked’ sites.. but it’s better than the Bloglines interface… so I’m happy ๐Ÿ™‚ (Thanks Monica for the suggestion of Shrook)… so anyway, every day, I go through my Shrook folder for the cocoa swap blogs.. and reading everyones blogs is great fun, but leaves me next to no time to blog myself… bleh ๐Ÿ˜‰ it’s ok, really… I haven’t had much to blog about…

My kiddos are off school today, so we’ll be creating ‘marshmallow’ men for the cocoa swap contest.. should be a lot of fun… I have a good idea for my entry ๐Ÿ™‚ and hopefully they’ll all have some outdoor play in the little bit of snow we have so we can have BIG mugs of cocoa when they come in and put their marshmallow men to good use ๐Ÿ™‚

On the knitting front… well.. I’m concerned… I think I have startitis… Anne chronicaled her issues with it this past summer… but … I think my issue is two-fold… I have decided that with the exception of a few already planned gifts.. this year, 2008, is the year of knitting for me. I have this ginormous pile of patterns I want to do… I have a frightening stash I want to work from… and I don’t know where to start…

I picked Ruffles and Ridges.. and started out with it… 807 stitches! It took me FOREVER to cast on… and at the same time.. I cast on for Odessa… and have my sister’s birthday coming up (we’ll see her while we’re in FL) so I had bought her some scrumptious soaps before Christmas and want to knit her a selection of dishcloths and washcloths… At the moment I have two cloths cast on, the Ruffles and Ridges, the Odessa, and the last felted bag (for my sis-in-law) from Christmas!

Each night when I look at this pile I am frustrated at trying to pick which one to work on… (totally my own fault!)…

Last night I finally was like.. Sheesh, it’s Misti’s birthday for crying out loud get her cloths done… so I cast on yet another that I know the pattern by heart, knew would take me only 1 hour to do, and finished it! YAY! I plan to finish the other two today, perhaps the 4th and will be done with her gift…

Odessa is lovely, the pattern is simple, but the small needles in the round get to me after about 1 hour of knitting.. so it is going to take me longer than I’d like. I had planned to knit 1 more this month for a friends birthday, but now I’m going to have to reconsider…

The ruffles and ridges is getting better, I’ve gotten through the decreases so that I’m down to 523 stitches now…ย  I have been through 1 skein already and only have 1 ” of knitting to show for it!ย  WOW.

The bag won’t take long and I should really finish that next.. so it’s just done and can be mailed… but in the back of my mind I know I have to finish the 2nd part of my cocoa swap pals ‘buddy’… because I want to mail it not long after we get back from FL ๐Ÿ™‚

Ahh… the list grows..

after ALL that is knit.. I WILL cast on my first pair of socks! ๐Ÿ™‚

see.. look at that.. I just have so many things I want to knit that I don’t know where to start.. and want to start everything all at once… bleh!

oh… that felt good.. a real post… ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m right there with you. I did manage to finish the Calorimetry while I watched Ghost Hunters Int. tonight. Although, I look like a huge dork wearing it. *sigh* Back to socks I think.

I’m probably in the same boat with everyone else. To make it worse, I went to the yarn shop today and came home with yarn for several projects. Swaps and requests mostly. I even bought yarn and beads to make Odessa for Oldest Son’s girlfriend. Maybe we can work on these together!

Hi M–I figured I’d check out my ‘hostess’ and her blog while taking a break from things I’d rather not be doing (labwork). I’ve really enjoyed reading! btw–the other swap i did (my first one), I did the exact thing allowing my name to come through the anonymous email! Swap virgin was my excuse!

I am very much with you, and apparently on the same brain wavelengths, as I was thinking about this on the drive home. Not only do I have all these ‘must’ baby projects, there’s a bag pattern waiting that I got in AK, sock patterns for the guild, sock patterns I wanted to try – a pair for me, a pair for my niece, the list goes on and on! Then a lace project with hempathy, and I’m bound and determined to make that jacket I wanted to before next fall. it’s just a bit daunting. Thus not getting much done on my knitting yesterday – I overwhelmed myself! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

I can understand how your time is consumed with reading posts. It’s been happening to me a lot lately. Bye the time I’m done reading and maybe replying, 3 hrs have passed and I’m tired!

As far as projects go, it’s not just knitters who suffer from startitis! Right now I am finishing up an afghan, but had to start a doily. Then I had to pull up the pattern of the elephant dishcloth to knit, while looking at the tapestry crochet patterns. As if that’s not enough, I want to make an afghan for my dd that I promised her. Too many patterns and projects, but not enough time or hands!

I do believe that raging cases of startitis are running rampant this winter……

I know what you mean about the real post. I did one post a day in October and I think I cheated on couple of the post and did one of those “What Knitting Needles Are You?” type. But I blogged every day none the less.

Lately my issues are I want to post too many things but don’t want to write too long – takes away from the knitting time. And I also want to start many projects but I haven’t because I know if I do, I would be too overwhelmed and not able to finish any of them. DAMN Process Knitters – I envy you.
