Happy Blogoversary Anne and Martina

Here is my boy today… my Murphster

I’m optimistic that he’ll have a great year. He’s starting it off on the right foot with a physical next week 🙂 He’s been enjoying our new snow… he’s like a puppy I swear in the snow… he just loves it! The kids howl with laughter every time he is out there and scoops up a bunch of snow to eat… and ends up whining and crying over the cold as he swallows it down…

A number of years ago Murph developed an abscess in his cheek area. We spent a good deal of money sorting out what the problem was (a necrotic parotid gland (salivary gland)) and in his surgery to clean up the area that was dead in there… he had a damaged nerve to his eye… which prevents him from blinking. At first the vets thought this might be an issue, however, his 3rd eyelid (Nictitating membrane) has trained itself to blink for him… very very cool actually… but in his photos.. his eye always looks droopy and a bit red. The redness we take care of with eye wetting drops… but he’ll always be droopy from now on 🙂

Murphy seems to be in good health, though lately has been having more mild seizures again, and he isn’t as active as he was when Chewy was still with us… I do hope that 2008 is a good one for Murphy!
