Goodbyes are never easy

October 30, 2007

We love you Chewy…

Lounging with your family

Modeling my favorite knits…

Those big beautiful eyes…

Snoozing with your original owner

Posing with your family

Playing with your best friend

Snoozing with the girl who loves you most!

We love you Chewy… and always will

These days are the worst. I’m so sorry for your loss. They bring so much to our lives, but take a piece of our hearts when they go.

They’re never with us nearly long enough. I’m so sorry and I’m sure you’ll hold onto your happy memories forever.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Chewy looks so much like my Dylan Thomas that I lost earlier this year. My heart goes out to you all.

A Letter From Your Pet In Heaven

    To my dearest family,
some things I’d like to say.
But first of all, to let you know,
    that I arrived okay.
I’m writing this from the Bridge.
Here I dwell with God above.
Here there’s no more tears of sadness.
    Here is just eternal love.
    Please do not be unhappy
just because I’m out of sight.
Remember that I am with you
    every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you
when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me
and He said, “I welcome you.
It’s good to have you back again,
you were missed while you were gone.
    As for your dearest family,
    They’ll be here later on.”
God gave me a list of things,
that he wished for me to do.
    And foremost on the list,
was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night
the day’s chores put to flight,
God and I are closest to you…
in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth,
    and all those loving years,
    because you are only human,
they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry:
    it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers,
    unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you
    all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you,
    you wouldn’t understand.
But one thing is for certain,
though my life on earth is o’er.
    I’m closer to you now,
    than I ever was before.
There are rocky roads ahead of you
    and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it
by taking one day at a time.
    It was always my philosophy
    and I’d like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world,
the world will give to you.
    If you can help somebody
    who’s in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night…
“My day was not in vain.”
    And now I am contented…
    that my life was worthwhile.
    Knowing as I passed along
    I made somebody smile.
God says: “If you meet somebody
    who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up,
as on your way you go.
When you’re walking down the street
    with me on your mind;
    I’m walking in your footsteps
    only half a step behind.”
“And when it’s time for you to go…
from that body to be free.
    Remember you’re not going…
    you’re coming here to me.”

Again, so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you.

    The Gift of a Pet

A pets love is one of God’s greatest gifts
    Always there for you
    Their love never lifts.
A pet is a friend to treasure and love,
    A gift from the heavens,
    A gift from above.
When you look into your pet’s trusting eyes,
    Something is there
    That no one can disguise.
It’s a look of complete love and something to admire,
    It makes your heart melt
    And sets your soul afire.
When the day comes for you and him to part,
Your pet’s soul is still with you,
He is still in your heart.
And at the Bridge he does what he used to,
    Running, playing, jumping
    And waiting for you.
And when you do enter heaven forever,
You find your still loving pet
And cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

Michelle, you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. What a blessing Chewy was and how lucky he had you all as his family. He will always be a part of that and you all will always be a part of him. I know you will see each other again. All our pets are having fun up at the Bridge while they wait for us. I’m glad you had the extra time with him after the diagnoses, to make more memories and share the love you have for each other. If there is anything I can do, please know that I’m here for you. Thinking of you all.
    Hugs and aloha,

I’m sorry to hear about Chewy. I am waiting for the day to come when my parent’s call to tell me that they are helping Buster (12 year old Boxer) over the Bridge. He has a tumor in his lung, but is doing OK right now… But, when he does go, its good to know there will be friends waiting for him.

Oh no I’m so so sorry.

  34. October 30, 2007 2:36 pm

Michelle, tears flowing… I was where you are just a couple years ago when our Polly was put down. She was a sudden sickness, no time to prepare and our whole family came to the vet, even my sisters and their kids. My son, the photographer took several pictures. It was sad, and I still miss her. But memories and love last forever.

    HUGS to you all.

Fred has already greeted Chewy, I’m sure of it, and they’ll keep each other company on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge, where they’re carefree and full of themselves again!

Big hugs, to all of you, and tissues and eye balm too…
