Fall Weekly Questions

October 17, 2007

Fall Felted Bag weekly blurb…

  • What was your favorite Halloween costume ever – for you? for your kids, if you have them? Why did you enjoy it so much? Do you still dress up now? Chat a bit about your traditions for dressing up on All Hallow’s Eve!

oooh.. I love halloween.. I love dressing up… and to show that.. I have two examples…

First, my usual tangent explanation… My MOM was like Super mom on steroids or something, and every Halloween (except one where we begged for plastic store bought costumes), every single Halloween she made homemade costumes… when we were a bit older we started helping out…

This was my favorite ‘team’ costume… The Fruit of the Loom gang… we did them out of paper mache (well mine (the Banana) and my baby sister’s (the Apple) were chicken wire shells with paper mache, the other two were fairly easy too… One sis was the Orange, a garbage bag spray painted orange, and the other sis a bunch of grapes… balloons were spray painted and then pinned to her sweat suit… 🙂

The other favorite costume of mine was when I was a Martian!

  • It’s a crisp, cool, sunny Sunday in October – the sky is clear, there’s a bit of a breeze, and the leaves have already started to change. How would you spend your day to best celebrate and enjoy the season? Are you at home curled up with tea and a book and a window open to enjoy the breeze? Do you head out on a long drive and hike through the mountains to see the trees? Go find pumpkins and colored corn to decorate? Tell us about your special day!

My day would consist of :

  • A beautiful long run at the state park, to enjoy the solitude and beauty of the leaves
  • A trip to the pumpkin patch with the kiddos to get the annual installment…
  • When we got home we’d have hot coffee/cider/cocoa, whatever we felt like, would enjoy the early sunset and then curl up in my favorite chair with some knitting…

Now that it is getting cooler here, it makes me think of apple picking and hay rides. Are you the type that likes to go to participate in all the fall festivities like apple picking, pumpkins, decorating for the fall, hay rides, baking fall goodies, etc. or do you just sit and count the days till Thanksgiving/Christmas/Hanukkah?

Umm… yeah… I totally love fall activities, including everything above and have blogged about almost every one of those things very recently…

See here, here, here, and here.
