Jim Ryun’s here!
August 15, 2007
Actually, he’s left. I don’t know how many knitters out there will know Jim Ryun… and the significance of having him at our camp… but.. he’s HUGE…
Jim Ryun is a congressman in Kansas these days, but in his teens… he was a world renowned runner… He’s the first teenager ever to break the 4 minute mile! He was 17 when he ran sub 4… AMAZING… He’s held world records in the Mile, 800 meters, some relays, and other races too! He’s a totally down to earth, very spiritually driven man, and it was a pleasure and honor to meet him. The kids here at camp loved him and loved his talk last night!
What a wonderful treat!

Oh wow! I am a runner as well as a knitter, so I realize what an amazing guest speaker y’all got.
How cool is that?! How did you get him to visit? (And I do know who he is, from my running days…)
