I’m down, so why not kick me?

This is Chewy. She’s a lab and Irish Setter mix. Her fur is like silk… and she’s 10.. which is saying a lot because many 10 year old dog’s hair is rather yuck! She was my sister-in-law from Minnesota’s dog… We adopted her because their oldest daughter was allergic to Chewy, and they couldn’t bear to just give her away to a stranger… She’s been a member of our family for 7 years.

Back in April she developed what we thought was a urinary track infection and we had it treated with an antibiotic, but it came back, or rather, never really went away… well, in the middle of ALL my other STRESS, we had her get an ultrasound today… the vet was thinking it was urinary stones… (think Kidney stones but in the bladder)… but that’s NOT what it was…

It’s cancer…

we don’t have a prognosis yet… but at 10 years old, chemo isn’t really a realistic option… when the tests come back about the type, then we’ll be able to talk more…

Great… Like I needed this added onto my pile!

I’m sending you hugs and prayers. I’m so sorry to hear that Chewy’s sick. Give her all the love and indulgence you can while she’s with you. A good dog deserves to be spoiled.

I’m sorry about Chewy. I hope he’s got lots of time left with you, without pain. He looks like a cute doggie!

I hope Chewy isn’t in pain. That is always the key. So long as they are not hurting, things are fine. It is all about their quality of life. I hope I get to meet Chewy tomorrow.

I arrived here via Chan. So sorry to hear about Chewy. Our good thoughts and hugs are with you as you go through this difficult time. We just lost a beloved pet in May, so I know what you are going through. Sincere wishes of understanding and empathy are coming your way.

I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. We lost the 2 Labs we had since I was in early highschool in the past year, both to cancer….I know it’s hard to deal with the diagnosis…and non dog people don’t understand the impact our pets’ health has on our lives. Know that you will be in my prayers everyday as you go through this difficult time.

Oh no!! Hugs to you and Chewy. Fred sends healing drool, because that’s what bassets do (via their humans, anyway), and Mugsy sends sweet snuggles. I am so sorry. That sucks, in a very major way. VERY major.

😦 So much love and hugs to you, hun. At least you were able to help her have 7 wonderful years with you, and wonderful time until her time comes, barring a miracle. You’re in my prayers.
