Knitters Virtual Vacation Swap

June 10, 2007

Here’s my questionnaire for the Virtual Vacation Swap finally…

AND… My location is: Raleigh, NC.. though part way through I’ll be switching (as we’re moving) to Pocono’s, PA

1. If you could visit any state in the US, which would it be and why? Wyoming… the horses.. the ranches, the wide open spaces… I’ve seen the East coast… time to head out west!

2. If you could visit any country in the world, other than your own, which would it be and why? Kenya, the ‘wildness’ of it all. It’s something so entirely different from anywhere else I’ve been!

3. Have you ever driven across several states/providence/countries? Yes, up and down the east coast… from Maine all the way to Florida

4. Have you ever visited someplace you consider exotic? Where was it? Australia for my honeymoon, and it was sooo exotic and beautiful, and amazing… and.. and.. and… I want to go back so badly!

5. What was your favorite “travel” vacation? Why? Australia for my honeymoon, because I’d always wanted to go, and it was a surprise from my hubby, and we had the time of our lives!

6. Have you ever played tourist in your own home city/state (if international, country)? Absolutely, especially the first time someone came to visit… in Maine I’d take people hiking in Arcadia National Park, or running on the carriage trails there, or hiking on Mt. Katahdin, in Massachusetts, we’d go antique store crawling or to one of the many local seafood restaurants, and we did the whole Boston thing a million times… to the Pops, to the museums, the Aquarium, the Swan boats, etc. etc. etc. When I lived in DC that was SOOO easy to play tourist… the Mall is just full of days and days worth of activities, and nearly all the things there are free to go see… the zoo, the museums, etc. Sometimes there’s a charge for a special exhibit, but otherwise it’s so tourist friendly! and here in NC we’ve gone to the mountains to hike, and gem mine, and to the ocean/outer banks for the beaches!

7. Are you a museum visitor, beach comer or an amusement seeker? In this order, Beach, museum, amusement…

8. What’s your favorite type of yarn? I like everything, though there’s only so much I can do with a fun fur or boa type yarn… my horizons are expanding now with the wools and acrylic/wool blends… I am loving cotton lately too…

9. What’s your least favorite type of yarn? Some of the more ‘fluffy’ yarns like mohair, I just find difficult to not tear the whole time I’m knitting it…

10. What items do you like to knit/crochet?hats, scarves, mittens, afghans, dishcloths.. that’s most of my repertoire

11. What do you pack, knit/crochet wise when you go on vacation? A bag, needles, stitch holders and markers if the pattern calls for them, yarn, a few patterns, scissors and a tapestry needle.

12. What other crafts do you do/would like to do other than Knit/Crochet? Other than knitting, I love scrapbooking and doing any child friendly crafts with my kiddos…

13. Are you allergic to anything? (Yarn wise or treat wise) just cigarette smoke, so I’m assuming you won’t be sending me cigarettes!

14. What is your favorite color? Least Favorite? blues and greens are my favorites, I’d say orange and yellow are my least, though they do have their place with variegated yarns in fall colors…

15. Sweet or Savory (Treat not personality)? Sweet, though I’d say I like both, and my personality is both too 😉

16. Anything else we are forgetting to ask that you think your partner desperately needs to know? hmmm well we’re preparing for a state move, so I’ll be on top of sending out a corrected email address and mailing address as soon as I have them…
