Spring is here… and these flowers (not the one’s I previously ‘wondered’ about.. those are actually witch hazel)… and our flowers are blooming and the sky is blue and gorgeous… the temps are lovely… I LOVE this time of year!
Thank you everyone for your well wishes and thoughts for Murphy. He didn’t need to see the vet yesterday, and he is actually eating this time, so that’s a bonus. He is doing a bit better today… and just in general sticks by my side (not that that’s different from the norm)… I appreciate all the support of my knitterly friends! I am sorry I haven’t written back to many of the emails, I have a party to put on today, and that’s occupying nearly all of my time right now… speaking of… progress photos to follow!

The cake, put together, (minus the wings)… I had the cake frozen, so I’m waiting for it to thaw to attach the chocolate wings. But it’s all together otherwise. Yesterday I piped 32 more mini wings to do Snitch ice cream for each child… (I’ll scoop the ice cream today, put it into cupcake wrappers, attach the wings and re-freeze it until party time… saves on all the mess and time consumption of scooping during the delivery of cake slices!)… I’ll photograph everything of course.. I’m crazy that way

Is the Y sufficiently Potterly-font ish?

But I guess I was wrong…

The head tilt is back.. see it there… the tilting to the right (well, to the left really but to your right in the photo)…
Murphy is having another bout with Vertigo today. So I’ll dramamine him, and call the Vet, but I don’t think I need to rush in there again… I’m just bumming
because I actually allowed myself to think we were in the clear.
I hope all the rest of the Dogs on Thursday bunch are having a better day than we’re starting out with!

Do you check on your children before you go to bed?
I do…
and I tuck them back in if their blankets have fallen off… and, when they were the earliest of newbies in my family I checked to make sure they were breathing… and alive and all that stuff…
Sometimes when I check my kids it’s totally uneventful… sometimes though I get this…

Yes.. instead of picking the sleeping wonder up and putting her back into bed… I … the blog freak that I am, ran downstairs to get my camera, tell the big guy and prep my blog post in my head… Yes she was sound asleep…
Oh, and for the Snitch followers… here’s an update of my progress…

Pre-decoration (the color is NOT that wonky in person.. something about photographing a shiny sphere is just NOT going well with my camera)

As a reminder… the snitch is not a smooth sphere.. it has grooves in it, and ALL of my reviews of photos couldn’t quite confirm their EXACT design, so I kinda wung it on one for sure and a bit on some of the others as well.. not sure if I’m overjoyed with it yet.. but once I luster dust it and add some wings I’m sure I’ll be much more pleased!

Side view… that top swirly… I don’t think is supposed to be so swirly… but honestly, the attention detail freak that is the ‘Big Girl’.. isn’t concerned so I’m going to be happy with it as it is… the colors will darken as it sits, and will blend better once it’s been ‘dusted’.
Ok.. the Biggest Loser finale is starting… I’m off!

Some parts of cake decorating I love just for the simple joy of the quiet I can experience while working on it…(aka, I do this when the kids are in bed or else suffer major stress!)
take for example, working with chocolate to make ‘decorations’ like hmmm Snitch Wings..
First you draw your pattern on paper

Tape it to the counter, and then tape a piece of waxed paper over it.
Next, melt your chocolate

follow your instructions carefully of course so as not to burn your chocolate or yourself…
Then Pipe the chocolate over your pattern.

I have done a MUCH better job in my piping in the past… two problems last night, first, I couldn’t find my usual chocolate piping containers… so the lid had a much larger hole (more for making filled chocolates or lollipops, than piping designs)… these may have to do if I can’t find the containers today for a do-over…
Finally, for a fun added touch, paint on edible ‘pearl dust’

The snitch has been baked and…
“Krummed”
hehehe (sometimes I crack myself up… and yes. it’s ok to laugh AT me… I deserve it)

Which House Character Are You?

You are Dr. Allison Cameron. People may think you’re too pretty to take you seriously, but behind it all you have a mind like a steel trap. You know what you want and you go after it, no matter what. And it looks like what you want is a juicy House sandwich. The good news is you’re smarter than people think you are.

1. **Update as of 9:45am EST** DONE.. at least with my part (etsy), and in my review, I’ll have you know I spent half as much on yarn and beading supplies as my dear sweet Big Guy predicted… so there.. that ought to hold some clout tonight when he ‘reviews’… hehehe
Big smiles here!

Umm… yeah… we always file on THE day who knows why we put it off each year.. maybe it’s the pain of going through the credit card and seeing all the yarn purchases for 1 year tallied
2.

Big girls birthday party is this Friday… and NO it’s not a sports theme… but my brain has been working on her cake request…
3.

Research complete… supplies collected, baking will take place this afternoon.. decorating over the next few days… I promise photos for my Harry Potter obsessed friends like myself (and thankfully the Big Girl)
4. And since we’re on the topic of cake today.. this one needs to be baked over the next couple weeks and at least frozen in preparation for May 4th…

5. Knitting??? yeah right… what knitting??? taxes will take me till lunch, and then baking through the afternoon… hmm I have one project that I feel so remiss in not yet finishing and it’s recipient is aware… but.. I hope to try to get busy on that today if possible. The Jays are coming along nicely.. they seem a tad big… maybe when I knit socks I need to go down a needle size from whatever the pattern says because even when my gauge is dead on the socks are tad big… must keep that in mind when working on my Knitty designs.

So. yes, I definitely have an ear infection, and on top of that I have a fairly serious (I guess) sinus infection, which I’ll be getting a CT Scan today to verify… but the thing that I hate most about anything involving the ear for me…
VERTIGO
Vertigo for me results in crawls to the bathroom for a chat with the porcelain goddess if you know what I mean… All of that kicked in this morning after a real night of sleep (thank you Dr. for calling in pain meds for me last night).. The pain I had yesterday was incapacitating… to say the least. The big guy came home to help with the little one and the older two as they got off the bus. I could be found lounging in the sun out back trying to will away the pain, and for a brief while napping in bed… allbeit very very brief.. pain that severe prohibits sleep…
I have a finished object to show, and the start of a new one, neither of which happened yesterday…. I just couldn’t even fathom knitting… never mind casting on a new project!
So I give you… Panda Cotton Anklets:

Knit with Crystal Palace Panda Cotton, in a colorway I can’t remember at the moment, and can’t find the tag for right now either… US1 circs, with a pattern from Chan’s Sock Wizard software.
And
Jaywalkers, knit with sunshine yarns in the Beach Day colorway.

I’ll bring this with me to the hospital to knit while I wait for my test… oh the fun…
PS… wordpress, I hate the new ‘wordpress’.. I mean seriously, were THAT many changes REALLY necessary… come on… I think the ONLY change I like is that you can upload multiple pics at once, but even that takes an eternity… click the little icon doobobber, and wait… and sheesh I could have already had one photo uploaded… plus the functionality you have in there for ‘centering’ your picture when you put it in doesn’t even work! Grrrr.

Wow, it seems that my last few days of blog reading (catching up) has produced a rather large list of friends in need of hugs…. Murphy and I would like you to please take the time to visit the following people and offer words of support for them as they deal with the sickness or loss of a beloved furry family member…
Alice, was in my cocoa swap. I still read so many of the blogs from that swap. Her dear Alex was attacked by a neighborhood dog on a ‘quick’ walk this past weekend. Alex was transferred from the emergency vet to her local vet yesterday and is expected home today. Poor sweet baby, I do hope he’ll heal quickly, and that her meeting with the neighbor will go well.
Mary, had to say goodbye to Storm, and her sweet Kitty Electra at the same time. It was hard enough to let go of Chewy this past fall but to have had to do two pets at once, I can’t even fathom. Please stop and leave a kind note at her blog… I know she’s trying to be strong but we all need hugs during times like these.
Cindy and Elizabeth, are also from my cocoa swap. They are dear Mainers with a love of running, homeschooling, and their beloved Golden’s… Mary was a world traveler and sweet running partner to Cindy for years. Besides our love of running and knitting, Cindy and I really connected through Murphy’s recent incident with his seizure and resulting vertigo symptoms… Cindy’s dog Mary had been through a similar incident a few years ago, and she was a tremendous support with plenty of words of wisdom from her experience, and I’m just so saddened that she has lost her beloved Mary. Elizabeth, Cindy’s daughter, is also struggling with the goodbye. Please stop and visit their blogs with your kindness!
My friend Jen, who is blogless at the moment? I think? Has said her goodbyes to Gizmo. She’s really struggling with this and I know she will be ok, but is taking the time she needs right now for her grief.
In my life… I’m zonked… I had a bizzaro allergic reaction to something in my eye last night, causing it to swell a LOT and I woke in the middle of the night with what I think is an ear infection! I’m not sure if the two are related but this morning my eye is still swollen, and I sit here waiting for the doctors office to open so I can get my ear checked… Ummm… aren’t ear infections something CHILDREN get??? at 37 I hardly consider myself a child.. though I can be childish at times.. ;-) For the moment my breakfast has consisted of decongestant, antihistimines, and lots of ibuprofen!
Come on people… I just want to get a decent nights sleep!
That Lunestra commerical is constantly at the front of my mind these past two weeks…
