Happy? Halloween

October 31, 2007 · 3 Comments

Ok, maybe not as happy as I’d like it to be… but I always seem to muster through…

Scenes as you trick-or-treat at MY house…

if you don’t, I don’t care, I’ll pull down your underwear (this is an add on by choice of my children… ? I never heard this one as a kid.. so I am not quite sure where they got it from…)

Eternal Thanks

October 31, 2007 · 3 Comments

Please excuse the rambling… if that’s what it comes out as…
Your words have really helped soothe my soul… to a degree that many of you may never know…

Our sweet older pup Murph has been a rather LARGE shadow today for me.. it’s been helpful, and at the same time incredibly sad…  but I am making it through today… slowly but surely… in fact, as I sit here, (on my front porch, handing out candy to the neighborhood kids… ) I’m starting to finally enjoy Halloween.. one of my favorite holidays!

Thank you all… again.. .for your words… your kindness has been greatly appreciated!

Look where I found the Murphster this morning…

He’s totally NOT allowed on the couch… but if it means that Big girl is accepting him as a ‘cool’ dog afterall, I’ll take it…

FOs, Halloween will be here soon!

October 29, 2007 · 8 Comments

2 more days…
The count down is on here in our house (who am I kidding, the count down has been on for over a month!)

I am done with my Halloween knits… and am moving on to Christmas knits, FINALLY… ;-) As a countdown for your viewing pleasure.. here’s what’s been accomplished for Halloween knitting…

A cat costume, including a Furry tail, and cat earred furry hat

catgirl.jpg cathat.jpg

A Bat costume that includes a knit ‘bat’ hat, and a sewn (no photo taken yet) bat wings that are attached to a black sweat suit…

bat.jpg

And we must not forget…

The HALLOWIG.. Dora hair… for little girl who will be dressed as Dora the Mermaid…

dorawig.jpg doraback.jpg

I will of course pull her real hair back for the Halloween night.. :-)

Now I plan to take a brief break in Holiday knitting (read that… ‘I”m waiting for the bag pattern I ordered to get here) to knit myself something…

The Opal Ponytail Beanie… in Regia Green ‘crazy colors’ colorway… I like how it’s striping so far… and got more knitting in than I’d planned… funny how sitting in the doctor’s office can do that for you…

Final questions and ‘reports’ for my swaps…

Fall into Autumn Dishcloth Swap

How was your experience in the exchange? Did you enjoy the folks you met? Did you just love the cloth and goodies you received? Please share any thoughts, criticism, and things you loved!

I loved this swap.. had a fabulous time meeting my downstream partner, Courtney, whom I’ve continued to stay in touch with…  I especially enjoyed designing a dishcloth for her in this swap as well as knitting up the dishcloth pattern that I received in my last (Dog Days) swap from my then partner, Cass.   Additionally, my upstream pal, Megan, sent me an awesome package, that she obviously spent a lot of time putting together and studying up on my blog ;-)  I continue to read her blog, (and started to during the swap)… and am envious of her career.. I hope to one day join her in the role of nurse/doula…

Fall Felted Bag Exchange

How was your experience in the exchange? Did you enjoy the folks you met? Did you just love the bag you received? Please share any thoughts, criticism, and things you loved!

I absolutely adored this swap.

Right now however… I am so sad as I sit here looking at the boxed up bag that I was supposed to send out this morning but instead found myself sitting in the doctor’s office with a sick child and haven’t been able to get out of the house since… (hopefully Big Guy will be home early so I can sneak out to the PO)… another thing makes me sad about this swap… that is… that I even have to mail this bag out… ok.. that totally sounds selfish, but I so love this bag that I will be casting one on before the end of this week! :-)  I love how this bag turned out, and I do so hope that my pal will enjoy it.  She included this bag in her list of suggested bags… and I had it half finished before realizing it wasn’t even going to be felted!!!  Yikes how could I have screwed that up?  This is a FELTED bag exchange…  I did speak with Anne regarding this ‘dilemma’ and she assured me that it would be ok, since my partner put the bag in her list…  I really hope that’s the case!

My upstream pal Laurie (my misplaced fellow Ma$$hole) sent me an awesome booga bag in great brown/red and gold… it’s getting a lot of use…  also she sent some of the neatest things in the bag, including a local MOMs club cookbook!  She did a fabulous job, and my children were thrilled with her thoughtfulness!

This swap taught me new things… like picking up stitches, lining bags, and introduced me to new friends!  I had a blast!

I’ve outgrown my shirt, but not the memories…

October 27, 2007 · 5 Comments

What do you do when your ‘little’ big girl outgrows her favorite kindergarten (hand made in school) shirts… but isn’t ready to let go…?

Some would suggest quilting them… and believe me… I have a BIN that’s filled with some of my favorite clothes from the kids waiting for me to learn to quilt so I can make myself the best ‘memory’ ever… but that’s not something that will be accomplished anytime soon…   This however… keeps my girl happy!

Now.. you can go back to your regularly scheduled Saturday blog surfing….

Sigh….

October 25, 2007 · 4 Comments

I’m tired… probably because I feel like I have so much to do and not enough time… I have days like this… I don’t like them…

Before I forget… Please go wish a belated birthday to my bud Anne, and… while you’re at it…. go tell Chan that she and the Knight are amazingingly lovely in their wedding photos..  and the current ones…  :-)

Today I had a dentist appointment… nothing as serious as dear Anne’s.. but the usual cleaning… and the fun of a 3 year old trying to talk to me the whole time… the hygienist was in hysterics because she’d try to answer for me and little girl would say.. ever so politely.. ‘I’m talking to my MOM!’  hehehe

Said silly one… and I then came home and made stuff…

pickles.jpg

mmmmm pickles…. (said in my best Homer Simpson voice) …

Little girl and I love pickles… the older kiddos think it’s hilarious actually… because Little Girl has chosen Pickles for dessert over Ice Cream on a few occasions.. (and they make sure they tell everyone they meet about that!)

Now I am off to finish camp paperwork… ooh fun… and maybe tonight I can make some more goodies for my Etsy store:-)

hasta…

Ok, I’ve bitten the Etsy bullet

October 25, 2007 · 3 Comments

I’ve been ‘tinkering’ with making stitch markers and a few other knitting related goodies lately… and after the suggestion of some of my readers (and the support of my dear Big Guy)… I’ve decided to open my own Etsy shop

right now I have only a few things listed, but I have plans to work the next few days on a bunch more to get up there :-)

Here’s the link since WordPress won’t allow Javascript I cannot put my mini store here on my blog… (bummer)…

Pumpkins and foliage

October 24, 2007 · 5 Comments

pumpkins.jpg

It’s fall, and we got to do another of our annual ‘halloween’ related traditions… we visited a pumpkin patch… Roba Family Farms. What a blast… Middle guy’s class had a field trip there so I went as a chaperone and brought the little girl with me of course..

foliage.jpg

saturdaysky.jpg

We’re getting to that ‘Peak Foliage’ time here… and I’m totally loving it… Living on the top of a mountain means that I often get to see beautiful foliage, especially on my drive ‘down the mountain’ as everyone here says… :-)

Totally confused… I’ve tried to post the same post several times and it’s not saving, not posting the changes… grrr… wordpress is having one of those days I guess..

I’ll try again.. quickie shots from the pumpkin patch

To My Sister-in-law Sarah

I thought of you today… after my run…

I’ve been making a point of doing some yoga after each run because my flexibility has been suffering tremendously due to my insane ‘mommy-life’… and the failure on my part to schedule stretching into my routine of running… ;-)

Today it’s beautiful outside, so I decided to do a few dozen sun salutations in the driveway and MAN am I happy I did…

Here’s what you see when you look up from Mountain and cobra…

sky.jpg

Maybe if the weather cooperates we can do some yoga together outside when you’re here for Thanksgiving…. (that’s a big maybe, but the way the weather has been lately..you can’t rule it out either!)
