What’s up with that?

February 21, 2007 · No Comments

Ok,…

I jumped the gun and got back into my nearly normal training schedule only to come down with strep throat last night/today! Yikes… talk about a pain… I had nearly whole body aches all day.. which really means nothing in the grand scheme of things when you’re a mom! I had two children for half the day… but when John got home with Abby he let me rest for a while.

When the ibuprofen kicked in I got up and knit for a bit. I worked on the February KAL which is really quite a pretty pattern… I just don’t really like the variegated yarn I am using. Chelsea picked it out, and the colors are pretty, but the yellow got clumped into one section of the washcloth… and isn’t really distributed very evenly… Ahhh well… not a whole lot I can do about it… again the pattern itself is pretty… easy too. A lot of yarnovers and such… which is good practice. I’ll have to cut the yarn and ’strategically’ place the yellow part of the yarn more in the ‘middle’ of the first few rows so that it is a bit more evenly spread throughout. The ladies in charge of the KAL for the dishcloths group suggested a variegated yarn for the mid month KAL, but next time I think I’ll pick a solid. Learn a little with each one is what I tell myself…

Took some pics but still can’t find that camera whodingy to upload the photos… it’s here in one of these boxes behind me! ;-)

5 glorious miles

February 20, 2007 · No Comments

5 miles… that’s what I ran today… it felt good. These past two weeks without being able to run have been hard.. partly because I needed so badly the stress relief during our move, but also because I was really worried that I’d really done something bad to my heel… but I did it today… 5 miles.. no pain.. :-) YAY!

I’m so glad that we live close to the greenway trails too.. because it makes for a much easier run than having to drive to the land (which is so much closer now, but still… driving to get to a run seems so silly)…

Now if I could just get rid of this sore throat! ;-)

Chelsea’s mouth

February 19, 2007 · No Comments

I love to record little anecdotes of the kids…. They grow too quick and I’m so worried I’ll forget the funny little things they say and do… so here I’ll have a way of remembering some of the hilarious things that go on in our daily lives!

Yesterday we’re on our way to dinner since we still don’t have a ‘functioning’ kitchen.. not because of anything that’s broken, just because of the lack of items to cook with etc. that are still boxed up… so anyway… we’re driving to La Rancherita, our favorite mexican, and Chelsea yells from her seat… ‘Mommy I want the fishy song’… which would be fine if there WAS a fishy song… however… there isn’t one that I know of. She has a knack for yelling out the created titles to the songs she likes… ‘the baby song’… ‘ the doggie song’.. ‘the froggy song’… titles she creates from something in the song.. .makes sense.. even to my 36 year old mind.. but is the only thing that makes sense in the 2 year old mind with regard to song titles…

I digress…

when I tell her in response ’sorry, I don’t know of a fishy song’.. she replies with ‘You know mommy, FISHIES… the song with fish!’ I cracked up… attitude from a 2 year old isn’t in short supply… but it was definitely hilarious! I’m guessing, after much thought since this incident last night that she probably was thinking of the ‘Itsy bitsy teenie weenie bikini’ song… it’s the only one I have on disk that would even resemble something with ‘fishies’…

Yesterday I got a ton of knitting in, and it was so great! I haven’t had much time to knit lately with all the packing and moving we’ve been doing. It’s such a relief really to have it all done and over with really. I mean, living in the current maze of boxes is heavenly in comparison to the ridiculous hours of boxing and cleaning that I’ve done over the last month!

I got Abby’s spiral skirt half done yesterday and knitted 1 1/2 of the 4 dishcloths for Dad’s birthday this weekend. I need to find some graph paper this morning to plot out the remaining two dishcloths.

I read the pattern for JJ’s snowdevil hat and need to make a purchase today of some needles I think… I have to check my needle stash (almost as bad as my yarn stash) to see if I have the DPNs in a 9… I’m thinking no… but I may also call Lee to see if she has any I can borrow. I’m excited to go to knitting tomorrow Wednesday night with Chelsea’s completed ruffle pants, Abby’s half done skirt and the dishcloths to show off! I usually dont’ have the completed projects to share like everyone else.. but now that the house is all ’said and done’… I’m making time for my knitting again!

Today’s plan… finish Dad’s 1/2 done cloth, plot the remaining 2 and write out their patterns, and work enough in the basement to find my knitting stash!

Ok, it’s blog time

February 18, 2007 · No Comments

I’ve always wanted a blog… really… a place to dump my thoughts, even if no one ever reads them.  But especially someplace to record my knitting and running adventures. :-)  So I’ve worked on this a bit, and I’ll work on it more over time… I’m not promising any short stories or novels here… just some cute anecdotes and pics once in a while…
